Alternatives Magazine – OUT NOW!

Yes, it’s finally here! The first Issue of Alternatives, Online Magazine of International Student Radio. Thanks to all the contributors! Enjoy the read.

Alternatives Magazine coming soon!

It’s been a while since the happy days of Alternatives2016 conference ended. The team hasn’t forgotten the fantastic atmosphere of belonging and connectivity that could elaborate international collaboration on student / college / campus radio. The next step is the Alternatives Magazine, an online journal for all things student radio. The first issue with articles covering different stations out there will be published in just a month, on June 15th, right here, with a special theme: Passion!

Presentations now for download

Some of the conference presentations from ALTERNATIVES2016 Conference DAY1 have been uploaded to the DOWNLOADS page. The presentations from DAY2 workshops will soon follow. Also, in the next week you will be presented with a photo album of the entire conference experience. Stay tuned!

Student radio is fun!

As one of the presenters, Mr. Patrick Quinn put it with his Glaswegian accent: Student radio is fun. But as ALTERNATIVES2016 showed, so is meeting student radio people! Thank you for all the great presentations, workshops, discussions, laughs, ideas and moments to all of you who made this possible.

DAY1 was a success, DAY2 taking place right now!

The first ALTERNATIVES2016 started yesterday with an array of fantastic presentations and even better discussions during the day and at the Kerma VIP Lounge dinner.

The DAY2 is going on at the FellmanniCampus with workshops and discussions. Some technical issues and delays, also, but that’s student radio, right? 😉

The Conference is just ONE DAY AWAY

We are pleased to announce that there is only one day left and our ALTERNATIVES2016 conference kicks off! Amazing! Those of you traveling to Finland for the first time, make sure to take warm clothes with you.

Still a few seats available

ALTERNATIVES2016 is less than two weeks away! There is a good chance that there will be a full house of 80 people in Lahti. There are still a few seats available so please make sure to register as soon as possible to secure your place in this fantastic networking event!

Ghana to replace Australia on DAY1

Unfortunately Ms. Caitlin Magee from UNI media Australia had to cancel her participation in the ALTERNATIVES2016 conference. We hope to see Caitlin in the forthcoming conferences! At the same time we are glad to welcome Dr. Sidick Abubakari from Campus Broadcasting Association of Ghana to present us with perspectives from West-African student radio.

Conference DAY1 will be streamed LIVE!

It's about being there!

The first day will be streamed live on Limu Radio’s webpage, at We are trying to make it as interactive as possible, to enable interaction between Lahti and the rest of the world.

Still seats available!

As August is almost at its end and September is knocking behind the door ALTERNATIVES2016 Conference is only five weeks away. There are people from all over the world traveling to Finland for this occasion but there are still around 30 seats available. Please make sure to register your place in the conference and don’t hesitate to tell a colleague about this opportunity also. If you require advice on traveling to Lahti, contact the conference organisers at
