Ghana to replace Australia on DAY1

Unfortunately Ms. Caitlin Magee from UNI media Australia had to cancel her participation in the ALTERNATIVES2016 conference. We hope to see Caitlin in the forthcoming conferences! At the same time we are glad to welcome Dr. Sidick Abubakari from Campus Broadcasting Association of Ghana to present us with perspectives from West-African student radio.

Conference DAY1 will be streamed LIVE!

It's about being there!

The first day will be streamed live on Limu Radio’s webpage, at We are trying to make it as interactive as possible, to enable interaction between Lahti and the rest of the world.

Still seats available!

As August is almost at its end and September is knocking behind the door ALTERNATIVES2016 Conference is only five weeks away. There are people from all over the world traveling to Finland for this occasion but there are still around 30 seats available. Please make sure to register your place in the conference and don’t hesitate to tell a colleague about this opportunity also. If you require advice on traveling to Lahti, contact the conference organisers at

Grand Old Man of Finnish Radio closes the first day!

Mr. Joni Heinonen, one of the founding members of Lahti’s first local independent radio stations, Rytmiradio and a longtime radio personality and DJ in Radio 99 and in Radio Voima has promised to be part of the ALTERNATIVES2016 Conference. Heinonen will be talking about college radio from the point of view of a traditional radio DJ who’s seen the evolution from LP’s to digital music playlists.

E-mail back in business!

The conference e-mail is now fully functional, so keep those posts coming!

E-mail Temporarily out of Order

As the Lahti University of Applied Sciences is doing maintenance on it’s e-mail servers, there is a temporary interruption for e-mail traffic to and from The service should be fully operational again on Monday 5th of August. If you’ve sent us e-mail but haven’t received an answer, you can expect it early next week.

Have a nice weekend!
